Engine oi我都自己换
在换油前我会在COSTCO买CASTROL 10W30 $25左右一箱12瓶一公升装；在SUPERSTORE买OIL FILTER $7左右；在CT买ENGINE OIL PLUG GASKET $2.6左右5个（FILTER 扳手在CT买便宜，最简单的就行了5快左右吧，还要一些漏斗）；费油桶一般我用牛奶桶代替，也可以在CT买，或在DOLLAR STORE 买个一块钱的脸盆，用完扔掉。
然后就是换油，我是这样换的。用千斤顶顶起车（如果有两个的话，或者是那种大的，可以从中间直接顶起车），先放废油，放完后，拧上PLUG；倒进几瓶机油（根据不同的车），让车运转1-2分钟；再放掉废油，同时拧下OIL FILTER；等放干净后，换上新的GASKET，拧上PLUG，换上新的OIL FILTER，倒进新的机油。收集好废料和工具，废油和废料就去到CT扔（不知道扔的地方就问修车处的人）。
整个换油连同ENGINE FLUSH一起完成，全部花费最多20块。
老大，有空玩玩还是很有乐趣地！前年我还自己换了TRANNY的FLUID，也是很有趣！

只倒进几瓶机油就让车运转1-2分钟，如果油不够对发动机不好吧？还浪费机油。应该是先运转几分钟后，再换机油就可以了。换油的工具费只要自己换两次油，基本上就赚回来了。 -

Some cars are much easier to change oil than others. So far, I think Toyota's cars are among the easiest one to change oil. For example, in one model of Camry, the oil filter is right on top of the engine! I remember when I was in collge, I helped a roommate to change his Tercel. All I needed to do is drive the car until the wheels of one side are on a curf, then changed the oil.
My recommendation is when you drop your car off for an oil change, it is a good idea to find out what brand of oil and oil filter they are using. Not all cars are created the same, and not all oil and oil filter are same as well. Some oil and oil filters are much better than others.
As for the $19 oil change place, maybe they have cheap labor, which means less experiences, or they use cheaper oil or filter. Normally, I like to have my oil change at a private shop, rather than an oil-change chain. Why? Most of those place use (compress) air-gun to screw/unscrew the drain plug. one time a friend of mine had oil change at Juffylube, and they use the air gun before they properly align the plug, which they actually screw up the threads... by the time he got home, the engine was empty due to oil leak. They also have to rebuild that drain hole... I know this may be a rare incident, but using the air-gun normally will over-torque the drain plug. -

I think he meant recyle (or re-process) oil. Some companies took the used oil, re-process them to "filter" out the dirt inside the oil, and repackage them in big barrels. If you go to oil chang shops, some of them use a big barrel of motor oil instead of 1L bottles. -
