施化：我近来跟在法语省考屁股后面转悠，辅导中学生做法文文法题目忙得不亦乐乎。我是没时间写“我心目中的优秀中国人”这个题目了。但我觉得你的建议很好，是否你可以召集一下，征求大家的意见，集思广益，让我们的论坛来点积极和亮色的东西，看看各位心目中的优秀中国人是个什么标准。

It does not matter whether we talk about Chinese people, Japanese people, Jews, Canadians, Americans, Germans, Blacks, lawyers, young people, women drivers or any other group, collectively they all come across as bad, ugly, loud, unfriendly and worse.
I try to think of the individual Chinese, French, German, Japanese, teenagers, lawyers etc. whom I admire or whose friendship I value. If I concentrate my thoughts on these people, it tends to melt away negative stereotypes.
But then, to be honest, it is so gratifying to discuss negative stereotypes. I wonder why that is? -

是的，所有中国人、美国人、印度人、日本人……他们的缺点其实是相同的，都是人类的缺点。不信找一个中国人的缺点出来，保证美国人也有。
但是还是有区别。由于不同种族的历史演变和政治制度不同，他们对人类缺点的克服和保留的数量程度有不同。比如说谎这个缺点，有的种族以此为耻，有的种族以此为常。贴标签者因此找到根据。
作为同种族的人，最好的姿态，是发现不能有效克服缺点的制度弊病，找到克服缺点的良制，有效减少缺点。而不是回避掩盖，或者发现其他种族的相同缺点来自我安慰。
作为不同种族的人，最好的姿态，是把各个种族的个人看成独立个体，评价以人区分，与种族无关。
不管如何，谁也无法避免别人的观察议论，甚至偏见。做好自己的事，走好自己的路，让人说去。 -
