Who is the Antichrist?
"I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist." (2 John 1:7, NIV)
Regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, before that day arrives, there will be a rebellion, and the man of lawlessness—the son of destruction (the Antichrist)—will be revealed. Now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. What restrains him is the church! The Antichrist cannot be revealed until after the church is raptured.
The Antichrist has the following characteristics:

Before the Great Tribulation, he will confirm a covenant with many, allowing Israel to build the Third Temple. "He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.'" (Daniel 9:27, NIV) The Antichrist will be very persuasive. During the first three and a half years of the seven-year period, he will confirm a covenant with many Middle Eastern countries. Ultimately, he will persuade Arab nations, including Muslim believers, to allow Israel to rebuild the temple of the Lord (the Third Temple) on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Three and a half years later, at the start of the Great Tribulation, the Antichrist will break the covenant. "In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering." (Daniel 9:27, NIV) The Lord Jesus will come to take His holy bride. As soon as the overcomers in the church are raptured, the Great Tribulation will arrive, and the world will be in chaos! At that time, the Antichrist will surely break the covenant, forbidding God’s people from worshiping in the temple and putting an end to sacrifice and offering.

He will create a false world peace. After the rapture of the church, the world will fall into chaos—murder, arson, robbery—the whole earth will be filled with lawlessness and plunged into the Great Tribulation. Then, a man will appear, saying, "I can bring peace to the whole earth!" But this peace will be false because the Antichrist is the father of lies.

He will have authority to act for forty-two months. "The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months." (Revelation 13:5, NIV) This man will be wise, intelligent, and charismatic! Many people, including the kings of the earth, will follow him, deceived by his influence. He will speak arrogant and blasphemous words and have the authority to act for forty-two months (Revelation 13:5).

The whole earth will worship and follow him. "The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, 'Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?'" (Revelation 13:3-4, NIV) This man will have great authority and eloquence, speaking deceitful double-talk. The whole earth will worship and follow him, and no one will be able to make war against him.

He will sit in God’s temple and proclaim himself to be God. "He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God." (2 Thessalonians 2:4, NIV) This man of lawlessness will come in accordance with Satan’s work. He will perform all kinds of signs, wonders, and miracles, and every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing (2 Thessalonians 2:9). Many people will believe in him. He will even sit in God’s temple in Israel, proclaiming himself to be God.

He will blaspheme the name of Jesus. "It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven." (Revelation 13:6, NIV) The Antichrist will not only blaspheme things on earth but also mock those who have been raptured to heaven! He will use vile language to insult them and blaspheme the one true God in heaven. Completely filled with evil spirits, he will shamelessly curse, taunt, and ridicule the saints.

In the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, controversy erupted when a performance segment, led by drag queens, depicted Jesus and His disciples from "The Last Supper" in a way intended to promote so-called diversity, transgenderism, and sexual liberation, directly challenging the faith of 2.4 billion Christians worldwide. Religious communities expressed great outrage! This performance concealed a satanic scheme, an operation of the spirit of the Antichrist, to blaspheme the name of Jesus and offend Christians across the globe. This further proves that the day of the Lord's coming is near and that the man of lawlessness (the Antichrist) will soon be revealed.

He will be the political leader of the world. "It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation." (Revelation 13:7, NIV) In Revelation 6, among the four horsemen, the first rider on the white horse is the Antichrist; he pretends to be like Jesus, holding a bow and given a crown, and he rides out as a conqueror bent on conquest (Revelation 6:2). He will have authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation, waging war against the saints and conquering them. He will be the political leader of the world and control the global economy.

The False Prophet will be his best partner. "It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads." (Revelation 13:16-17, NIV) The False Prophet will be the Antichrist’s best accomplice, forcing the whole world to worship the image of the beast and receive the mark of the beast (a microchip implant). Anyone without this mark will be unable to buy, sell, work, or travel abroad. But receiving the chip means selling your soul to the devil, with the final destination being eternal destruction in the lake of fire.

During the Great Tribulation, God’s children must have the resolve to become martyrs, willing to go to the execution grounds and be beheaded rather than receive the chip—this is what it means to be an overcomer. "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28, NIV)
