In the third quarter of 2023, Bell emerged as the fastest mobile operator in Canada, according to Ookla's recent Speedtest Market Analysis. The quarterly report assesses the performance of national providers in Canada.
Bell achieved a median download speed of approximately 101Mbps, outpacing Telus with a median download speed of 94Mbps and Rogers with 78Mbps. Despite Rogers excelling in download speed, Ookla's report revealed that the company reported the fastest upload speed, reaching 11.44Mbps. In comparison, Bell had an upload speed of 9.39Mbps, and Telus recorded 9.22Mbps.
Bell, a Toronto-based telecom provider, also offered the most consistent service in Canada, with a consistency rate of 83%. Ookla's Speedtest measures consistency based on the number of results showing at least a minimum download speed of 5Mbps and a minimum upload speed of 1Mbps. Telus achieved a score of 81.5%, and Bell was close behind at around 81%.

In the realm of 5G, Bell was crowned the provider with the fastest 5G download speeds in the quarter, achieving just over 183Mbps. Telus followed with a median speed of about 149Mbps, and Rogers lagged behind at around 118Mbps.
Regarding mobile devices, Apple continued to dominate as the provider of the fastest mobile devices in Canada. Ookla's third-quarter analysis revealed that Apple occupied all five spots on the list of most rapid devices. The recently released iPhone 15 Pro Max topped the list, with a median download speed of about 196Mbps and an upload speed of about 24Mbps. The iPhone 15 Pro came in second place, boasting a download speed of 156Mbps and an upload speed of 19Mbps. The iPhone 14 Pro Max, 14 Pro, and 13 Pro Max completed the top five.
For chipsets, the Snapdragon X70 5G chipset stood out with the fastest median download speed at 180Mbps and an upload speed of 22Mbps.
In the realm of broadband internet, Bell's pure fibre network claimed the title of the fastest fixed broadband provider in Canada among national providers. The network reported a median download speed of 286Mbps and a median upload speed of about 245Mbps. Rogers came in second with a download speed of 259Mbps, and Telus's PureFibre network secured third place with 239Mbps. Cogeco (127Mbps) and Vidéotron (113Mbps) rounded out the top five.
On the upload side, Telus's fiber network offered the second-fastest median speed with 198Mbps. Rogers claimed the third spot with a median speed of about 48Mbps, while Vidéotron (34Mbps) and Cogeco (28Mbps) also made it to the top five.
Bell had previously been ranked the fastest mobile and broadband provider in the second quarter.
