Canadian media Vis.com (Vice.com) released news that a month after the US presidential election, social media giant YouTube began to settle accounts for media channels that released false information about the election, and did not rule out blocking these channels. Relevant experts believe that there are errors in the YouTube network's own algorithm, and many far-right media, including the New Tang Dynasty Television Station affiliated to the "Falungong" cult, took advantage of this technical loophole to spread false information during the US election while ranking their channels high.
YouTube announced on Wednesday (December 9) that all media channels will not be allowed to publish videos alleging large-scale election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
The YouTube network began taking this measure more than a month after the presidential election. For a month, right-wing channels have spread unsubstantiated false information about alleged manipulation of elections and electoral fraud, and it is YouTube's own algorithms that facilitate the dissemination of such disinformation by these channels, thereby significantly increasing the subscriber base of their channels.
Despite the announcement, NTD released a video on Wednesday called the Election Fraud Truth Summit, which has nearly 900,000 views. As of now, the video has not been deleted.
