2017年7月18日，13歲兒童申小雨在中央公園被謀殺，經過四百多天的調查，2018年9月10日警方宣布此案終於告破。嫌犯名叫Ibrahim Ali，是一位來自敘利亞的難民。感謝一年多以來市民和媒體的關注，警方的努力，以及社區人士的持續跟進，讓這件凶案得以告破，讓申小雨在天之靈得以安息！
近年以來，加拿大的治安情況每況愈下，家長們對於孩子的安全問題憂心重重，而且加拿大的大部分中小學校園，沒有象國內中小學一樣有保安駐守，一旦有犯罪分子侵入，孩子們毫無還手之力。
