| RCMP Media Release The Langley RCMP is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the individual or individuals in the attached sketches. The following news release has just been distributed. Please share with your school community. The following release has been posted to the Langley RCMP Media Website at ow.ly/hIPcd Attempted Abductions MAY Be Linked On February 1st, Langley RCMP provided information to the public relative to an attempted abduction in the 5100 block of 205 Street. On that day, a twelve year old girl walking alone on 205 Street was approached by a Caucasian male in his 30’s, with brown scruffy hair, 5’9”, stocky build, a scratch on the right side of his face, wearing a black zip up hoody, dark blue jeans and white Nike runners. In addition, he was wearing a silver banded watch adorned with Roman numerals on his right arm. He was driving a white pickup truck with a large dent on the rear passenger side near the tailgate and a dent on the driver’s side door with scratches surrounding it. The young girl told police the male was leaning against his truck which was parked at the side of the road. As she passed by, he grabbed her wrist so she pushed him and ran home to advise her parents. No words were exchanged during the altercation. Police made extensive inquiries throughout the neighbourhood that day; however a no one was able to identify a suspect. Langley Serious Crime has assumed conduct of the investigation and arrangements were made for the young girl to work with a forensic sketch artist to create a likeness of the suspect. The circumstances of this occurrence and the sketch provided are remarkably similar to a prior attempted abduction in the Langley area. This incident took place on October 31st in the Fort Langley area. At around noon that day, a 12 year old girl was standing near the cemetery when a male approached her and grabbed her wrist. She screamed, kicked him in the shin and ran back to her school (Langley Fine Arts School). No words were exchanged between the two and in this instance, no vehicles were seen. The young girl involved worked with a composite artist very shortly after the attempted abduction and a sketch was distributed through the media. Police are asking the public to study both composite sketches and if you have any information that would assist with either investigation, please call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
