Having a US or Canada passport does not make you less of a Chinese. You can have US, Canada passport and go back to Israel, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India without much hassel. Your home is your home regardless what passport you hold. The Chinese immigration law needs to be updated.
Regarding what 2 said, "their own people" are Chinese people who abandoned their nationality and become foreign nationals. You see Indians, Phillipinos, Hong kong people and Taiwan people who became US citizens and still can go home without the hassels former Chinese nationals have to endure. The problem is not the hard feeling but stupidity and they try to give people from Hong Kong, Taiwan and even Japan more convenience than those who were born and raised in China. What do you mean by "their own people"? You choose not to be a Chinese, and you want them to still take you as their own people?
I think the main problem is that so many people are staying in Chinese "illegally", which will cause more and more problems. Chinese government just wants to manage this situation. I don't think they have any hard feelings on those who choose to abandon their Chinese nationality.
Think carefully before you do that!
Chinese communist is making going home more and more difficult for overseas Chinese. Other countries and regions like India, Phillipine, Mexico, Hong Kong, and taiwan are making it easier for their own people.
