Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified a murder victim whose body was found near Hi-Knoll Park, along the Surrey-Langley border, on Thursday morning.
She has been identified as Lisa Ann Zielke, 41, of Surrey. Police say she was living a high-risk lifestyle, was drug-dependent and actively working as a sex trade worker.
IHIT will hold a press conference Monday to release photos of items and property that were found near the scene. Further updates on the investigation will also be provided.
The release of these photos could potentially identify a person of interest in the police investigation. They are hoping the photos will be redistributed throughout the media in order to identify who dumped the property at this location.
Zielke's body was found in the parking lot of the park Thursday morning. Police were called after discovery of the body in the 19500 block of Colebrook Road.
The location where the woman's body was found is very close to where Marc Bontkes was murdered in March, 2009, during a wave of drug and gang-related violence in the Lower Mainland. It is nowhere near the other portion of Colebrook Road, near the Delta border, where several bodies were found earlier in the year.
Sgt. Jennifer Pound of IHIT told the media at a brief press conference near the location that IHIT investigators expected to be on the scene into the night, as they gathered more information and evidence at the scene.
Pound said on Friday that the woman was known to police. Police are continuing to investigate why the body was found in the area, which is popular with walkers, and the motive for the murder, the 20th of the year in Surrey.
Colebrook Road was closed between 192 Street and 200 Street.
