A Burnaby, B.C., man who admitted killing his wife and stuffing her body into a suitcase later found in the Fraser River has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 14 years.
Zhongming (James) Mou admitted to second-degree murder in the death of 27-year-old Yating (Lancy) Hu in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster Oct. 2.
Mou was originally charged with first-degree murder.
Hu went missing in July 2011 and her body was found about one month later.
The couple had two young children, who are now in the care of Hu's grandparents.
