The University of the Fraser Valley has a full time opening on its systems and network support team for a System Administrator. Reporting to the Manager, Systems and Telecommunications, the position will: Provide enterprise level support for the Windows Server Operating System (Ver 2003 or later). Provide high level support for the Linux Server Operating System (RedHat Ver AS 4 or later). Establish enterprise Microsoft and Linux Server performance monitoring and usage reporting standards. Perform capacity planning and manage follow-on acquisition and implementation of new technologies. Work closely with other ITS administrators to ensure high quality system integration and reliability. Work closely with the network security administrator to ensure the integrity of UFV information and data.
Qualifications A recognized Degree in Information or Computing Technology. Seven years proven enterprise-level experience as a systems administrator, three of which must be in a Microsoft 2003 server or later environment . Excellent working knowledge of UNIX/Linux. Proven ability to analyze enterprise server usage and performance. Minimum Microsoft MCSA Certification. MCSE Certification beneficial. Experience with server virtualization in a blade server environment. Experience with implementing and maintaining Storage Area Networks. Experience with enterprise backup systems (e.g. Symantec NetBackup). Experience with enterprise core network equipment beneficial. Proven time management and organizational skills. Proven ability to work well in a team environment. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Excellent change control practices with particular attention to detail. Ability to define and write technical procedures and policies.
