BURNABY (NEWS1130) - Mounties have arrested one man and are looking for another after a robbery at a Burnaby Costco store. Burnaby RCMP say the men entered the store armed with a hammer and pepper spray late Tuesday afternoon. Mounties say the suspects smashed a jewellery case and ran away with the goods.
One man ended up colliding with shopping carts and was held by employees and customers until police arrived. Sergeant Jane Baptista says the other man was able to escape. "We had a blockade and we were checking everybody coming in and out. And as I say, we had a police dog working throughout, to see if we could find him." The blockade was set up on the onramps to Highway One at Willingdon Avenue.
The suspect is described as being 5 foot 10 and wearing dark pants and a dark green hooded sweatshirt. Several customers received minor injuries in the incident, when one of the suspects sprayed his bottle of pepper spray.
