Senior Liberal strategist tries to hide deplorable remarks – Ignatieff yet to comment
Toronto – Alex Yuan, Chair of the Chinese Canadian Conservative Association, issued the following comment regarding senior Liberal strategist Warren Kinsella deleting a hurtful blog post targeting the Chinese community. In his original post and video Kinsella likened the meat served by Chinese restaurants to cat meat. Kinsella quietly removed the indecent post, but has issued no apology or retraction.
“Mr. Kinsella’s remarks towards the Chinese community were offensive. His attempt to cover-up his actions are unacceptable. We are deeply concerned that instead of apologizing for his remarks Mr. Kinsella has tried to hide those comments. What communication did Mr. Kinsella have with Mr. Ignatieff's office before his cover-up? Calls placed to Mr. Ignatieff's office have gone unanswered. The CCCA renews our call for Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff to fire Mr. Kinsella as his senior strategist.” Concluded Yuan, “The Chinese community in Canada strives to play an integral role in Canada’s pluralistic society. It is deeply concerning that a mainstream Canadian political party would allow such intolerance to go unanswered, and would actually countenance a cover-up.”
