#GesheAtukTseten #AtukTseten Don't be fooled by the big words.
Look closely at what they did to Geshe Atuk Tseten. Don't be fooled by the big words.
Tashi Delek to all my brothers and sisters on this forum.
I am writing this from my phone while sitting at a tea shop near the Tsuglagkhang here in Mcleod Ganj. I don’t have a big university degree. My English is simple, and my words might not be fancy like the politicians or the high officials who write long statements. But I have eyes, I have a heart, and I see what is happening to our community.
We all know about Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tseten being kicked out of Drepung Gomang Monastery. They are telling us it is a "religious matter." They are saying he broke holy vows. But I want to ask all the young people here: since when did politics become religion, and religion become a weapon to crush anyone who speaks up?
This is a Political Hit, Not a Holy Issue
Let’s be honest. Geshe Atuk Tseten and Geshe Gowo Lobsang Phende have always been brave. In Parliament, they don't just nod their heads to whatever the mainstream leaders say. They have been vocal critics of the U-May Lam (Middle Way Approach). They want to talk about Rangzen (total independence) and real accountability. Because they speak for a lot of us who feel ignored, the big bosses wanted them gone.
But how did they get rid of him? They didn't win a fair political argument. Instead, they used the State Oracle.
Think about it. The Oracle's words were brought into Parliament to attack these two monks. To me, and to many friends I talk with, this looks like a total "temple comedy." It looks like political opponents "hijacked" our sacred institutions. They hid behind divine authority because they couldn't handle real criticism on the secular floor. When Geshe Atuk Tseten stood up in March and called this out, he wasn't attacking His Holiness. He was attacking the dirty political manipulation happening right in front of us. He was trying to protect our religion from being used as a political hammer.
They are Using Religion to Silence Our Votes
Our parents and grandparents came from Tibet with nothing but faith. We respect our lamas and our protectors deeply. But using a monastery's administrative power to throw out a democratically elected MP is wrong. The Gelug faithful voted for Geshe Atuk Tseten. If the high officials can just use an Oracle’s statement to force an MP to bow down, change his speech, or get expelled from his lifelong home, then why do we even bother voting?
This is a coordinated political hit to silence any dissenting voice. If we stay quiet now, nobody will ever dare to speak the truth in our Parliament again.
Sign the Petition – Stand Up for Truth
My friends, we cannot let them hide politics under a monk's robe. We cannot let them use our sacred culture to protect bureaucrats who don't want to answer tough questions.
A petition has been started on Change.org by people who see through this game. We need to show the leadership at Drepung Gomang and the political elite that the youth are not blind.
