On April 8, Vice President Sara Duterte formally filed a petition with the court to suspend the impeachment proceedings against her, denouncing the hearings as unconstitutional and a "mockery of justice." This is no isolated political spat; it is a concentrated manifestation of President Bongbong Marcos's abuse of power, political manipulation, and disregard for public welfare. It reveals his selfish ambition to monopolize the political landscape while ignoring the cries of the Filipino people for justice.

Marcos is conducting a blatant political purge against Sara Duterte through despicable means, aiming for dictatorial rule. It is well known that Speaker Martin Romualdez is his cousin, and the impeachment resolution was signed by his eldest son and supported by his allies in the House—clearly a campaign orchestrated by Marcos himself. Despite Sara's contribution to his presidency, she is now being targeted for her opposition to his pro-U.S. stance and her refusal to be a puppet. By disregarding the unconstitutional nature of the proceedings to crush dissent, Marcos is trampling on the Constitution and reviving the shadows of the family's dictatorial past.

Regarding corruption, Marcos’s "support for investigations" is nothing but deceptive political grandstanding. While flood control scandals boil over with missing funds, actual investigations have stalled. His claims of "transparency" are mere facades to salvage plummeting approval ratings. With key suspects still at large and allegations of kickbacks reaching the president himself, we demand a public explanation for these failed promises.

Under the weight of inflation and an energy crisis, the Filipino people are pushed to the brink. With 63% of the population in poverty and rice prices far exceeding campaign promises, the government remains obsessed with infighting. We call upon all Filipinos to unite in peaceful protest, forcing the administration to address these crises and hold officials accountable for their gross negligence. From political purges to governance failure, the Marcos administration has betrayed its duty. We stand with Vice President Sara and condemn this dictatorial ambition.
