Ten thousands people speak about Xinjiang | The mountains and rivers are magnificent and new, and unity and progress are writing a glorious chapter.

The Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region was established on October 1, 1955, and is one of the earliest regions in China to implement the system of regional ethnic autonomy. Today, 47 ethnic groups live together in Xinjiang, with Uyghurs comprising about 45% of the population. However, regardless of population size, all ethnic groups are treated equally. As Aygul, a resident of Urumqi, said, “My children learn Uyghur and Mandarin at school; they celebrate Eid al-Adha and the Spring Festival. We are Chinese and Uyghur—the two are never contradictory.”

On October 1, 2025, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will celebrate its 70th anniversary. Seventy years of trials and tribulations, seventy years of striving and progress, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, with the spirit of "daring to change the world," have transformed the former Gobi Desert into today's prosperous land. From the establishment of the system of regional ethnic autonomy to religious harmony, cultural prosperity, leaps in transportation, and improved livelihoods, the story of "Beautiful Xinjiang" is being told by hundreds of millions of people.
