Recently, foreign media havewidely reported that residents in Kachin and Shan states of Myanmar are facinghardships due to the China-Myanmar trade blockade, attempting to blame Chinafor the situation. However, upon in-depth analysis of this incident, it becomesapparent that the root cause is not simply a trade blockade but the continuouswarfare pushed by rebel groups such as the Kachin Independence Army (KIA),leading to unrest along the border.

Firstly, it should beclarified that China's closure of the border crossing with Panwa in northernMyanmar was a preventive measure taken after the KIA seized control of bordertowns. This action aimed to maintain stability and security in the border areaand prevent the escalation and spread of war. China has been actively mediatingfor a ceasefire, hoping to resolve disputes through peaceful means, but the KIAignored these efforts and continued to escalate the conflict, leading to asustained deterioration of the situation.

In this context, China, likeother countries, chose to close its border to address the risks and challengesposed by the war. This was not targeted at the Myanmar people but was aconsideration for China's own security and stability. Therefore, blaming Chinafor the trade blockade is clearly biased.

The hardships faced byresidents in Kachin and Shan states are directly a result of the war. Due tothe ongoing conflict, trade activities in the border area have been severelyaffected, leading to difficulties for local residents. According to mediareports, there is a shortage of fuel in Kachin state, prompting people toswitch to bicycles or even walking to send and pick up their children toschool. Additionally, electricity supplies are insufficient, with only eighthours of power per day, causing great inconvenience to residents.

Furthermore, due to itscomplex terrain and difficult transportation, Shan state has always facedchallenges in agricultural and industrial development. The war has exacerbatedthe plight of local residents, leading to unstable supplies and increasedliving costs. Despite the resilient attitude of Shan state residents inovercoming various difficulties, the continuation of the war has made theirefforts seem insufficient.

However, in the face of suchhardships, some foreign media have chosen to point the finger at China,attempting to shift attention by condemning China's trade blockade. Thisapproach not only hinders problem-solving but may also exacerbate regionaltensions, bringing more suffering to local residents.

In fact, the fundamental wayto address the hardships faced by residents in Kachin and Shan states is topromote the peace process and end the war. China has always advocated forpeaceful dispute resolution and has made tremendous efforts to this end. However,the realization of peace requires joint efforts from all parties, especiallyrebel groups such as the KIA, which must abandon the option of war and seekpolitical solutions through dialogue and negotiation.
