Quality Assurance
Quality Assurance positions are available for any person with a familiarity of any IT profession. People in this internship work at small and medium-sized IT firms and join an existing QA team. They will test new software to find problems and write reports on these problems. This is an excellent introduction to the IT industry.
*Requirements: Basic knowledge of IT.
Java Specialist
This person works on web-applications development. He or she will work with a team of developers and depending on the length of their internship, they will work on applications development or troubleshooting. Typically, this type of internship is located in a small to medium sized IT firm.
* Requirements: Javascript, .JSP, J2EE. Experience in Linux environments a plus.
PHP Specialist
This person works on web-applications development. He or she will work with a team of developers and depending on the length of their internship, they will work on applications development or troubleshooting. Typically, this type of internship is located in a small to medium sized IT firm.
*Requirements: PHP, MySQL, HTML.
Embedded Software Specialist
Embedded Software Specialists work in the manufacturing sector. They program software that is included in manufactured products like modems. People in this internship will work in an industrial setting, in a medium-sized firm.
*Requirements: C/C++, Linux and Windows (CE) experience essential.
ASP.NET Programmer
This person will help design and develop new features in established applications. They will work as part of a team in a medium-sized IT firm. They also may be involved in advanced QA work.
*ASP.NET, SQL, C# or Visual Basic. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript a major plus.
. Database Administrator
Database Administrators assist with troubleshooting and creation of databases at medium-sized specialty IT firms. People in this position will work with a development team.
*Requirements: Some knowledge of Linux plus any one of the following: MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle.
Web Designer
Web designers work at small, fashionable specialty firms. These are exciting places to work as they are all staffed with young, outgoing web designers. People in this position will be required to perform independent work and / or contribute to larger projects.
*Requirements: html, CSS, knowledge of Macromedia Dreamweaver. Knowledge of PHP, Javascript, Macromedia Flash, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator a plus.
Graphic Designer
Graphic Designers work in medium-sized specialty firms. They create advertising and marketing materials such as postcards, brochures, business cards and flyers. Interns will work on their own or in a team.
*Requirements: Adobe Photoshop plus any one of the following: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Quark XPress. Must be comfortable working in a Mac environment.
