加西网报道：新西敏市政府今天晚上6点左右披露9月13日爆发的新西敏码头大火终于完全扑灭。

消防队长蒂姆·阿姆斯特朗（Tim Armstrong）今天正式证实新西敏码头（Westminster Pier Park）的木质码头的大火现已完全扑灭。
9月13日晚熊熊燃烧的新西敏码头大火震惊了大温民众。这次火灾不但火势巨大，而且释放出了有毒气体。

当时的大火导致附近空气中含有杂酚油（creosote），吸入会导致唿吸道不适。杂酚油主要用于码头桩子的木材防腐，延长木材使用寿命，防止虫蛀及其他化学品腐蚀。
之后，经过消防人员的努力，大火基本被扑灭。尽管码头上看不到明火，但码头表面下方一直在闷烧。

新西敏警方于9月15 日（星期二）下午以码头纵火相关罪名逮捕了一名男子。
之后，这名男子已经在若干条件下被释放，重案组仍在调查火灾及搜集证据，并将尽快呈递报告给检察官，以便对该名嫌疑人提出控罪。

不过警方没有公布该男子的姓名以及动机。
Front St 仍将在这个周末保持封闭，预计下周初将重新开放。Front St 的停车场和新西敏码头公园的其余部分将保持封闭，直到另行通知。
