Prizes & Judging

Judging:

All entries will be posted on www.westca.com/Video webpage for the public to vote on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being lowest). A scoreboard listing the top 30 entries will be published and renewed each week. After the closing for entries, twenty (20) finalists will be selected by a panel of judges composed of Film/Video School instructors, Westca editorial executives and reputable artists whom have been invited by Westca, based on the following criteria: Humor 50%, Originality 15%, Delivery 15% and Video Quality 20%. These finalists' work will be posted on the website for the members of the public to review and vote for their favorites during April 1-15, 2008. The public’s voting score will account for 40% and the judging panel score will account for 60% of the final score. All entries will be judged using the criteria stated above. Judges decisions are final. Members of the public will be invited to review and vote for their favorite Finalists. According the final score tally, the Grand Prize winner, the 2nd runner-up and the 3rd Runner-up and 17 merit prizes winners list will be published on April 30, 2008 via website and media announcement. An award ceremony will be held on May 23, 2008 in Vancouver;

Prize(s):

the twenty (20) Finalists will have their video posted on the www.westca.com website. The One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a prize with the value of $2,000 in addition to being featured on www.westca and other sponsor media. The 2nd Runner Up (1) will receive a prize with the value of $1,500, and 3rd Runner-up (1) a prize with the value of $1,000, the remaining 17 merit winners will each receive a prize with the value of $100. All taxes, if any, are the prize winner's responsibility. The Westca Technology Ltd. will not be responsible for any loss, liability or damage arising out of the prize winner's acceptance or use of the prize. All prizes are guaranteed to be awarded. The prize winners will be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility, and media use release within two (2) weeks from the date of the notification letter or an alternate finalist may be selected. All winning works will be displayed for one month in www.westca.com/Video; the top 3 winners’ work will also be displayed on the home page of www.estca.com simultaneously and a video show will be held at a sponsoring cultural organization’s exhibition Hall.
