When we were the Sick Man of Asia, We were called The Yellow Peril.
When we are billed to be the next Superpower, we are called The Threat.
When we closed our doors, you smuggled opium to open markets.
When we embrace Free Trade, You blame us for taking away your jobs.
When we were falling apart, You marched in your troops and wanted your fair share.
When we tried to put the broken pieces back together again, Free Tibet you screamed,
It Was an Invasion!
When we tried Communism, you hated us for being Communist.
When we embrace Capitalism, you hate us for being Capitalist.
When we have a billion people, you said we were destroying the planet.
When we tried limiting our numbers, you said we abused human rights.
When we were poor, you thought we were dogs.
When we loan you cash, you blame us for your national debts.
When we build our industries, you call us Polluters.
When we sell you goods, you blame us for global warming.
When we buy oil, you call it exploitation and genocide.
When you go to war for oil, you call it liberation.
When we were lost in chaos and rampage, you demanded rules of law.
When we uphold law and order against violence, you call it violating human rights.
When we were silent, you said you wanted us to have free speech.
When we are silent no more, you say we are brainwashed-xenophobics.
Why do you hate us so much, we asked.
No, you answered, we don't hate you.
We don't hate you either,
But, do you understand us?
Of course we do, you said,
We have AFP, CNN and BBC's...
What do you really want from us?
Think hard first, then answer...
Because you only get so many chances.
Enough is Enough, Enough Hypocrisy for This One World.
We want One World, One Dream, and Peace on Earth.
This Big Blue Earth is Big Enough for all of Us.

Published by the Washington Post of the racist, anti-Chinese, biased Western media. Written by some self-pitying Chinese person who is not named here, no doubt, unless, of course, it is a caricature.

I have heard so much noise about the nastiness of the Western media, I decided to read a report by one of the few foreign journalists who was in Tibet during the riots. Certainly seems more balanced to me than anything I have seen on this Forum.

with the huge differences between the Western and the Chinese media as well as the opinions of the Western and Chinese public, at least one thing is clear, i.e., it is far more than a human right issue. I was driving from Waterloo to Toronto two weeks ago and was listening to the local radio news. It happened to be public calling in time. To be honest, I was really shocked to hear most of the comments and opinions. They were just as extreme as the BBS of Westca, if not worse, except that it was totally in the other direction. The hatred was so obvious, not only against the Chinese government, but also products, RMB deppreciation, worldwide oil price, food price, etc. China was blamed for everything. The worst surprise was the way the news anchor commented on the calling ins. It seemed to me that he was just putting oil on the flame.

The poem, not matter who wrote it, at least expressed himself in a reasonable and humorous way, which I feel like a nice breeze through the smoky battle field.

Yes, this is why I suggested Steve to read it. I don't know if he read it carefully and thinks about it deeply. Unfortunately, obviously, Steve still doesn't catch my point. Maybe it is his mean. Anyway, I don't want to talk to Steve anymore about this. It is too much, it is enough.
