Topical Points to be considered:

1. This is the only competition of its kind in Canada
2. There will be an audience choice award, as well as money prizes up to $3000 for first place winners...
3. Age of competitors range from 10 to 30 Years old. Junior division: up to 16 years old, Senior division: 17-30 years of age by August 31, 2010.
4. Judges: International pianist and pedagogue, founder of the world renowned Baynov Piano Ensemble, Professor Tomislav Baynov from Germany, and the international Canadian Duo, Marcel and Elizabeth Bergmann will be the official judges. www.nwpes.ca/adjudicators.htm

5. A total of 13 groups registered, with 5 in the junior category and 7 in the senior.

6. Among the competitors are some interesting local musicians, including Iman Habibi, (http://www.imanhabibi.com/Iman_Habibi/Home.html) who has made a name for himself as composer of some exciting music that is being performed across Canada and the USA. Another interesting candidate is from Germany, Sonya Vorwerk, (v
who has played in Germany with the internationally acclaimed violinist, Anne-Sophie Mutter.

7. The first competition was of mostly local candidates, with interest expressed by teams from abroad, who did not come. This time we more than doubled the number of teams, added a junior category and have contestants that travel from as far away as Germany, China, the eastern US and Canada.

8. Winners of last year's competition completed a successful concert tour in South-East Asia this year, as well as a sold out concert in Vancouver. They have received significant acclaim for their polished performances.
