2010西北国际钢琴重奏大赛周末在温哥华隆重举行
2010年国际双钢琴及四手钢琴重奏大赛于本周末11月12日、13日在温哥华隆重举行。来自欧洲及北美洲的钢琴高手们将在大赛中一较高下。
本次大赛是同类大赛中在加拿大举办的唯一一次,参赛选手来自加拿大、美国、中国及德国等欧洲国家,分成少年组(10-16岁)和青年组(17-30岁)进行,通过专业评审的层层选拔,最终选出今年大赛的获奖者。

2010 NORTH WEST INTERNATIONAL PIANO ENSEMBLE COMPETITION
To be held Nov. 12 at Tom Lee Music, and Nov. 13 at Norman Rothstein Theatre
The 2010 International Competition for Piano Duo & Piano Duet from Europe and North America will be held on November 12 and 13 in Vancouver in the following venues and schedules:
First Round:
Friday, Nov. 12, Junior Division: 9:30am; Senior Division: 1:30pm
Venue: Tom Lee Music Hall, 929 Granville St, 3rd Floor, Vancouver, BC (604.685.8471), www.tomleemusic.ca
Admission for the First Round will be $10 per person, Students free.
Final Round:
Saturday, Nov. 13, 7:00pm
Venue: Norman Rothstein Theatre, 950 West 41st Ave, Vancouver, BC

Admission for the Final Round will be $25 General Admission, $20 Students, seniors and Groups of 5 or more $20 per ticket. Tickets are available at Tom Lee Music Richmond, Vancouver and Langley, as well as at the Norman Rothstein Theatre.
The North West Piano Ensemble Society (NWPES), which administers this biennial competition, is sponsoring this concert.

Topical Points to be considered:
1. This is the only competition of its kind in Canada
2. There will be an audience choice award, as well as money prizes up to $3000 for first place winners...
3. Age of competitors range from 10 to 30 Years old. Junior division: up to 16 years old, Senior division: 17-30 years of age by August 31, 2010.
4. Judges: International pianist and pedagogue, founder of the world renowned Baynov Piano Ensemble, Professor Tomislav Baynov from Germany, and the international Canadian Duo, Marcel and Elizabeth Bergmann will be the official judges. www.nwpes.ca/adjudicators.htm
5. A total of 13 groups registered, with 5 in the junior category and 7 in the senior.
6. Among the competitors are some interesting local musicians, including Iman Habibi, (http://www.imanhabibi.com/Iman_Habibi/Home.html) who has made a name for himself as composer of some exciting music that is being performed across Canada and the USA. Another interesting candidate is from Germany, Sonya Vorwerk, (v who has played in Germany with the internationally acclaimed violinist, Anne-Sophie Mutter.
7. The first competition was of mostly local candidates, with interest expressed by teams from abroad, who did not come. This time we more than doubled the number of teams, added a junior category and have contestants that travel from as far away as Germany, China, the eastern US and Canada.
8. Winners of last year's competition completed a successful concert tour in South-East Asia this year, as well as a sold out concert in Vancouver. They have received significant acclaim for their polished performances.
