Conciliators appointed in separate negotiations with the
Canadian Union of Postal Workers

This note is to provide you with an update on labournegotiations with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), whichrepresents our delivery agents and plant workers.
Canada Post filed for conciliation on April 4, 2016 inthe hopes that a neutral party could stimulate constructive discussion.Our goal remains negotiated collective agreements that are fair for ouremployees while reflecting the changing nature of our business andneeds of ourcustomers. Negotiations began late last year and are ongoing.
On April 11, 2016, the federal Minister of Employment,Workforce Development and Labour appointed conciliation officers tohelp reach collective agreements in separate negotiations with theunion’s two bargaining units, CUPW-Urban and CUPW-RSMC.
The conciliators have 60 days to do their work, afterwhich there is a 21-day cooling-off period. No legal work disruption canoccur before the cooling-off period concludes.
