1. As the temperature drops, so does the tire press. So make sure that your tires are properly inflated.
2. Check treads. If too worn out, replace tires. This is not the place to be frugal.
3. Make sure you always have enough winshield washing fluid. Keep a bottle of reserve in trunk.
4. If you area snows a lot, keep a small snow shovel, a bag of salt, a de-icer, a flashlight, and a blank in the car.
5. With snow on the ground, find a big empty parking lot and try sharp turns and hard brakes to get a sense of how your car responds. It also helps you to cope with emergency situations. If possible, have an experienced driver on your side when doing this.
6. Drive carefully, don't take chances.
7. Defrost well before driving. Visibility is always important.
8. Keep distance, don't tailgate. If others tailgate you, pull over. Consider them Ps and just let them go.
9. When skid, don't steer too hard and don't brake abruptly.
