Yes so far the only con of ADP is you have to provide 5 days advance time.

ADP is never cost effective for small firms plus you sacrifice lots of flexibility which most small businesses are after.
So far I'm manually backing up my data to dropbox, I think quickbooks is switching to cloud sooner or later. Since the main stream is on quickbooks, switching to other platforms might introduce compatibility issues later on and cost you a lot more on year end.
But anyway, accounting/payroll is my third job, not a guru at all.

You are right. ADP is costly and not flexible. We only use payroll Quickbooks function, so it will not affect our accounting too much if I switch to other payroll software at the beginning of calendar year.
