IMMPowerBC is designed for skilled immigrants and internationally trained professionals who have:
· Lived in Canada for five (5) years or less (since January 1, 2002)
· Been a certified professional, technician or tradesperson in their native country
· At least three years of pre-landing skilled or professional employment
· Have strong English language ability (at least intermediate-level)
· An interest in working in 1 of 4 priority sectors: construction, transportation, energy or tourism/hospitality
The IMMPowerBC program features:
· Connections to employment sectors with the highest demand for skilled workers
· Career planning and Job Search support - working with your own Career Counsellor
· Professional and Technical Job Search workshops
· Credentials and Skills Assessment
· Training and enhance existing skills and experience
· Language assessment and upgrading (including Professional and Technical English)
· Connection to and assistance with professional associations, licensing bodies and trades organizations
· Canadian Trades Assessment for those clients with skilled trades expertise; including access to Apprenticeships;
· Funding available to pay two thirds of the cost of training / upgrading
