Deans and universities’ bureaucrats appear quite happy to sacrifice academic quality in exchange of cash. The influence of mainland Chinese money is corrupting many institutions and people. When I hear the frequent slogan: the world needs more Canada! I cringe and think: please no. We don’t need another hypocritical country [China] that launders illicit money, pollutes more per capita than most other countries in the developed world and yet arrogantly claims the high moral ground.
